Internship Opportunity: Quality Assurance Lab Intern

Location: Naugatuck, CT
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Duration: May - August

Company Overview:

Culture Fresh Foods, Inc. is a Non-Dairy food processing facility headquartered in Naugatuck, CT. Our facility produces a wide range of plant-based spoon able and spreadable cultured and ESL (extended shelf life) products for private label, co-pack, and under our own brand.

Internship Overview:

The Quality Assurance Lab Intern will assist in conducting observations and verifications of raw materials, work in progress (WIP), finished goods (FG), and equipment to ensure compliance with product standards. This role provides hands-on experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and standard specifications within the food industry. The intern will report directly to the QA Manager and work closely with various departments to support food safety and quality assurance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in sampling based on the production plan
  • Support monitoring, calibration, and verification activities
  • Perform microbiological, physical, and chemical analysis of raw materials, process, and finished products
  • Document testing results and compliance findings
  • Help conduct environmental monitoring and CIP (Clean-in-Place) solution analysis
  • Perform in-plant weight and temperature checks
  • Observe line operations and report deviations to the QA team
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace
  • Work on a project defined by QA Manager and provide timely progress report. 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a food science, microbiology, chemistry, or related program
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying environmental conditions (noise, dust, mechanical parts)
