
Real Property Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
The Real Property Intern is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, and repair activities for our Brooklyn and NYC /HQ sites. This role involves managing the maintenance crew, addressing staff’s concerns and requests related to building maintenance in a timely and professional manner. Ensuring the overall safety and functionality of the property. The Building Superintendent plays a key role in creating a positive working environment for occupants and maintaining the value of the property.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Address any report/request on our ticketing system and resolve maintenance/repair problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Lightweight sparkling and painting of walls if needed.
- Replacing on grounds at ENY and 124th Street.
- Provide snow removal services during the winter season at all six sites.
- Take measurements and install all window blinds/shades.
- Assemble all new furniture.
- The superintendent conducts walk-through with various vendors or service providers at all our Start sites.
- Provides supervision and guidance to the Maintenance Worker(s).
- Provides assignment and instructions to maintenance and other employees in the general operation, maintenance, cleaning, floor stripping/waxing and repair of buildings and grounds.
- Organize and maintain shop tools and supplies in compliance with health and safety codes.
- Obtains, stores, safeguards, distributes and supervise use of equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that you meet or exceed the agency’s existing performance standards for yourself and your functional unit (clinic, program, etc..) in the domains of regulatory compliance, financial accountability or (productivity), quality, and satisfaction of patients and others served by Start.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Be working towards a related building trade degree or vocational school certification
- Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
- Intermediate computer knowledge is required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Critical thinker and problem solver with high emotional quotient.
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements
Indoors, sitting, using hands on objects, tools or controls; repetitive motions. Occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds. Other job characteristics – need to be exact or accurate; repeat same task, errors have important consequences; automation.
