Demand and New Products Planning Analyst Intern

ohnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate opportunity for a Demand and New Products Planning Analyst – Intern with a global medical device organization in Auburn, MA

Contract Role | Hybrid | The pay range for this position is between $20-$25 per hour depending on qualifications. 

Summary: The Demand and New Products Planning Analyst Intern will assist in all demand and new products planning activities.  Work closely with Marketing, Sales, and Purchasing to develop short and long term item sales forecasts for a select portfolio. 

This position will be highly focused on the Supply Chain success of new product launches, while continuing to enhance our current processes working with key stakeholders.  Work with Marketing and Purchasing to ensure we have sufficient supply to support new product introductions and promotions and that we have the sound sell-off plans for items that are being replaced.  The development of accurate and timely demand plans is essential to ensure that Supply Planning has the information needed to have the right level of inventory on hand to support our customer service and inventory investment goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Demand and New Products Planning for all finished goods we sell.   
  • Develop item sales forecasts based on demand patterns and business trends while working with Marketing, Sales, and Purchasing for a select group of specialties.   
  • Provide assistance to the Manager of Demand Planning as needed.   
  • Maintain demand planning systems to improve forecast accuracy for specific specialties. 
  • Perform root cause analysis of demand issues and provide corrective measures.   
  • Escalate complex demand issues to management for immediate resolution.   
  • Ensure that we have solid sell-off plans for items that are being replaced by new products or technology.   
  • Conduct the monthly Sample and Rentals, Vet, and Company's Canada Planning meetings to help develop demand plans for these critical areas of the business.  
  • Monitor sales trends on critical products for the business such as key accelerators and recently launched new products.   
  • Communicate new product forecast and forecast changes to all suppliers and stakeholders.   
  • Quarterly update unit level sales forecast for critical products to  Global Sales & Demand Planning via IBP.  
  • Identify sales outliers and make necessary forecast adjustments.   
  • Review the 3rd Party new product launch process and identify and implement enhancements to assist in launching successful products from other suppliers.    
  • Conduct ABC classification analysis on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Understanding of inventory management practice and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with various levels within the organization.
  • Detail oriented and ability to recognize sales trends in a large data set.
  • Public speaking experience required; must be comfortable presenting data to various levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge and experience in new product planning, demand planning, purchasing, sales, and/or marketing strongly preferred. 
  • Cross-functional decision-making experience strongly preferred.   
  • SAP/ERP system experience preferred.
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time degree program or a recent graduate.
  • APICS certification is nice to have, not required
