Nashville Symphony Communications Department 2025 Summer Internship

The Nashville Symphony’s Communications Department is seeking a dynamic, high-energy summer intern to support day-to-day operations across digital communications, public relations, and internal/external messaging.
The Communications Intern will play a key role in content creation, storytelling, research, and project support that helps elevate the Nashville Symphony brand across platforms. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student interested in arts communications, media, or marketing to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Qualifications / Internship Requirements:
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, marketing, multimedia, or a related field.
- Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite for the duration of the internship (minimum of 8 weeks). Start and end dates are flexible based on academic schedules.
- Flexible schedules and availability for some evenings and select weekends are required, based on event and concert schedules.
- Candidates should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Compensation: $10/hour + complimentary concert tickets
- Completion of the internship does not guarantee full-time employment with the Nashville Symphony.
Sample Projects and Responsibilities
Musician Profiles
- Create or update musician bios for the Nashville Symphony website.
Social Media Content
- Assist the Digital Communications Manager in developing and scheduling content for the Symphony’s social media platforms.
Video Production
- Plan, shoot, and edit short-form videos to highlight events, performances, musicians, and audience engagement.
Audience Research
- Collaborate with the VP of Communications to develop and distribute audience surveys. Analyze findings related to digital engagement and communication preferences.
Competitive Analysis
- Research regional and national orchestras and other entertainment venues.
Storytelling Archive
- Work with Education and Development teams to gather and organize stories, photos, and videos that illustrate the Symphony’s community impact.
Event Promotion
- Support digital and onsite promotion efforts for summer community concerts. Capture live social content during events to boost audience engagement.
Print Projects
- Assist the Art Director with print collateral (e.g., posters, flyers) and coordinate distribution.
Theme Day Planning
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to identify potential 2025/26 season theme days and research community contacts for outreach.
