Programs and Community Engagement Intern
OVERVIEW
Invertigo’s Programs & Community Engagement Intern will be an important member of Invertigo's small, lively team and contribute to the maintenance, assessment, and growth of our community programs and public engagement initiatives, including the beloved Dancing Through Parkinson’s (DTP) program. The intern will primarily work with the DTP Program Director to support weekly classes, tabling events, and our September DTP performance. The intern will see all aspects of how a growing performing arts organization functions on a daily basis, with emphasis on activities that enhance and expand community partnerships and access to the arts.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal intern will be community-minded, an excellent communicator, and have an open, positive framework for working with a diverse range of people. Desired qualifications include: interest or background in dance, performing arts, creative production, public engagement, community-building, marketing and outreach, and media and filmmaking skills, including film editing. The Intern will be able to take direction on projects and develop ideas and content independently. This requires enthusiasm, clear communication, efficient time management, and the ability to balance details with big-picture planning. Occasionally, Invertigo will ask the intern to support and experience evening or weekend events. Reliable transportation is required to attend weekly DTP classes in Venice on Monday afternoons, as well as other community engagement events.
This position will work 15-20 hours per week from June through December. The intern will work a total of 400 hours over the course of the internship. In conversation with the intern’s supervisor, a regular work schedule of two to three days per week will be decided on.
