Marketing Associate Job Summary:

Barksdale Investment Management is seeking a motivated and results-oriented Marketing Associate to join our growing team in Nashville, TN. This role is crucial in driving the firm's asset under management (AUM) growth by developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives focused on acquiring new clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a robust pipeline of prospects, gaining a deep understanding of our investment strategies and services, and developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing plan to target both national and regional prospects. The primary objective of this position is to solicit and successfully close new client relationships, contributing directly to the firm's expansion.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect Pipeline Development: Identify and research potential clients, building and maintaining a strong pipeline of prospects.
  • Firm and Investment Strategy Expertise: Develop a thorough understanding of Barksdale Investment Management's investment philosophy, strategies, and services to effectively communicate our value proposition to prospective clients.  Become familiar with accounts, Investment Policy Statements and consultants
  • Marketing Plan Development: Create and present a comprehensive marketing plan tailored to target regional and national prospects, outlining strategies, tactics and timelines.
  • Marketing Plan Implementation: Execute the approved marketing plan, which may include activities such as: 
    • Developing marketing materials (presentations, brochures).
    • Organizing and participating in prospect meetings, networking events, and conferences.
    • Coordinating and conducting outreach to potential clients.
    • Completing RFIs and RFP 
  • Client Acquisition: Proactively solicit and engage with prospective clients, building relationships and presenting Barksdale's investment solutions with the help of the PM team once a prospect has been appropriated vetted.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market opportunities to refine marketing strategies.  Become proficient in using internal marketing tools such as Evestment and Finsearches
  • Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives to report to the team on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the investment teams to ensure a cohesive and effective client onboarding and relationship management process.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in a sales or marketing role, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Understanding of the investment management industry, particularly fixed income.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).   
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically targeting institutional investors
  • Existing network of contacts within the regional investment community.
