Marketing Communications Outreach Intern

Job Title: Marketing Communications Outreach Intern

Supervision: Program Manager

Status: Part-time, temporary, non-exempt

Rate: $20 per hour

General Purpose: The La Plata Economic Development Alliance (the Alliance) is a non-profit organization (501c6) focused on creating a vibrant and resilient economy through the recruitment, retainment, and growth of business to preserve our quality of life. This mission is achieved by workforce development, enabling business capacity, supporting affordable housing for the community workforce that is essential for long-term economic sustainability, and fostering public and private partnerships.

This internship will focus on the Alliance's annual Economic Summit (think TED conference focused on leaders) in September while gaining real-world skills and mentorship from our marketing and planning professionals. This event is highly anticipated by the local community, and interns will gain exposure to cutting-edge marketing techniques while brushing shoulders with the Who's-Who of local business and government leaders. Essential Duties: Event management and production (note: you are not expected to have experience in all of these areas):

  • Assist in planning and executing a large scale nonprofit fundraising event
  • Create content for marketing campaign and materials including social media, press releases, advertising, website, and printed materials
  • Maintain and update sponsor databases and communications using the SalesForce CRM software
  • Ticketing management through Event Brite 
  • Conduct research on potential sponsor opportunities
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm new ideas
  • Help coordinate logistics for the event, participate in setup and take down tasks as assigned

Qualifications: Qualifying interns must be enrolled in Fort Lewis College or Pueblo Community College. Any major is welcome to apply. Marketing or Business students will probably be most compatible.

Additional Desired Skill Sets (not required): Club/student leadership or background in event planning is a bonus. This is a good position for individuals who want to stay local after graduation.
