The Better Business Bureau of MN and ND is currently seeking a motivated college student to be our summer HR & Office Administration Intern, onsite at our Burnsville, MN office.

As a HR & Office Administration Intern, you’ll get to experience real day-to-day work in your field of study, participate in cross-departmental development opportunities, and be networked with some of the largest brands in the region.
Position Summary
The HR & Office Administration Intern will spend a typical day working with our VP of Human Resources and HR Administrator on a variety of HR tasks with unique exposure to; talent acquisition, HR & System Administration, Benefit Admin support, Training and Development, Office Administration and other programs and processes that support our HR department and Office.
Human Resources Responsibilities include:
- Assist with various HR and Company projects to support our “Quest for The Best” initiative, creating great employee culture experiences.
- Assist with posting jobs via established internet job boards, HR system and social media channels. Research other job boards talent acquisition methods to reach a broader audience.
- Assist with screening candidates, developing interview questions and conducting phone interviews.
- Work with internal staff to determine interview availability. Schedule interviews for candidates including interview agendas.
- Participate in in-person interviews and track candidates through the hiring process.
- Assist with processing background checks.
- Learn HR system (Paylocity) features; update employee records as required. Assist with running various HRIS reports and preparing a variety of Power Point slides.
- Assist with new hire orientations and onboarding.
- Track completed Training and Development courses.
- Assist with Training and Development curriculum.
- Create and administer Lunch & Learn activities and initiatives.
- As a member of the “Fun Patrol” and “Wellness” Committee, assist in planning and hosting various fun and wellness related events and activities.
- Assist with administering the BBB Summer Internship program.
- Assist with various HR administration tasks.
- Provide periodic back-up to front reception desk.
Office Administration Responsibilities include:
- Assist with coverage for the lobby/reception area; meet and greet accredited businesses, visitors, tenants, partners, employees, etc. to ensure a welcoming and professional environment.
- Assist with office opening; Open lobby/reception area in advance, in preparation for normal Business Office hours; 8:30a.m.-4:00 p.m. Ensure office front doors are open in the event of a meeting prior to office hours.
- Provide general administrative support for the office and various departments, including employee services, supplies, copiers, mail and courier/shipping services, and deliveries.
- Enhance member businesses and visitors’ experience in providing a welcoming and engaging environment.
- Assist with coordinating and implementing scheduled activities, meetings, events, and programs within the BBB offices and conference rooms.
- Assist with coordinating various facility-related matters including security, vendors/property management company, or cleaning company.
- Assist with setting room configuration prior to the meetings and accommodate rental requests (i.e. coffee, IT needs, etc.)
- Return conference rooms to proper order post-meeting.
- Assist with planning and providing support for employee meetings and events that promote a team environment and a positive company culture.
Requirements - What we’re looking for in our interns……
- Actively enrolled in a HR Bachelor’s Degree or Office Administration program
- Professional written and verbal communication skills required.
- Bi-lingual skills a plus.
- Ability to work under tight deadline schedules and float between various projects and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a wide range of individuals.
- Effective planning, organizational and detail-orientated skills – ability to prioritize projects and adjust workload accordingly.
- Must take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, PPT, Zoom, Teams and Outlook) helpful and preferred. BBB will train interns on these programs as needed.

Schedule/Work Location/ Pay
- We’re looking for the HR & Office Administrator intern to work up to 40 hours per week.
- This internship role is in-office, and located at our Burnsville Office: 220 S. River Ridge Circle, Burnsville, MN
- The pay for this internship position is $17.00/ hour.
- The internship program starts Wednesday, May 28th and lasts to Friday, August 29th, 2025. BBB will be flexible on your start and end date if needed.
