Multimedia Journalist

WLNE-TV/ABC6 in beautiful, downtown Providence, R.I., is looking for a multimedia journalist. The candidate must have a passion for reporting and a strong news judgement. The perfect candidate has a compelling live presence and ability to connect with viewers. 

Responsibilities:

--Shoot, write, edit assigned news stories.

--Pitch original stories during daily editorial meetings.

--Write up article on assigned story for digital platforms. 

--Post daily assignments and story updates on the NOW LOCAL NEWS App. 

--Monitor, write, and update breaking news throughout newscasts.

--Assist in writing/editing scripts to ensure clarity and accuracy. 

--Deliver news on camera in a professional manner.

--Ability to ad-lib with anchors. 

--Build relationships and contacts in the area. 

--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

--Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines throughout the day. 

--Previous experience using camera equipment and editing software. 

--Organized and detailed-oriented. 

--Strong collaboration and communications skills. 

--Knowledge of a working newsroom. 

--Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a similar field preferred. 

--Previous on-air experience. 

--A team player who is willing to jump in and assist when needed.
