Content Creator Intern
SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dependable Content Creator Intern to join our business development team. In this position, you will collaborate with our business development team in writing and producing a variety of content for the chamber’s website and social media pages.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Write blog posts, web and ad copy for MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com, TourismWorksForTheGrandStrand.com and other chamber websites as assigned.
- Write and edit press releases.
- Edit and proofread copy on the chamber’s websites and in printed materials.
- Write informative copy that is optimized for search engines.
- Assist with writing event descriptions and invitations.
- Create content for chamber social media pages.
- Write newsletter copy for the chamber newsletters including the Grand Strander, Keep Myrtle Beach Beautiful and Grand Strand Young Professionals.
- Work with public relations teams on media communications.
- Support the business development team and communications director as assigned.
- Attendance and Dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.
- Relationships with Others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Chamber. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works, to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Other duties as assigned by the EVP of Business Development.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or a recent college graduate from an accredited college university working towards degree/having degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related subject OR work experience in related field.
- Knowledge of AP Style and SEO preferred.
- Ability to research information.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely using proper grammar and spelling.
- Knowledge of AP Style preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of business social media best practices and platforms.
- Must embrace and demonstrate a “Continuous Improvement” approach to problem solving and process enhancement.
- Creativity in generating engaging and shareable content, including multimedia elements like images and videos, to enhance storytelling.
- Must possess and demonstrate a collaborative, team-oriented approach to conducting the operations of the chamber staff.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, while meeting established timelines and schedules in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic.
- Requires a highly organized and disciplined individual who will ensure timely follow up with the business development team and/or the EVP of Business Development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with all employees, including responses to electronic communications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department of the organization.
INTERSHIP WORK SCHEDULE
- The position will begin in the Spring semester and last through the summer and end at an agreed upon date before the beginning of fall semester.
- This position will last no longer than 12 weeks, but additional weeks may be approved.
- Work schedule is flexible, but anticipate approximately 30 hours per week.
- Work is to be performed within the Chamber’s normal business hours of 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
