Location: Brunswick, ME/ Hybrid work schedule
Commitment: Full-time/ Part-Time, Summer 2024 (Flexible)

About Live and Work in Maine

Live and Work in Maine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to attracting and retaining Maine's workforce. Our mission is to showcase that in Maine, you can achieve both a high quality of life and a fulfilling career.

We partner with employers, communities, nonprofits, and individuals to develop and execute programming, events, marketing campaigns, and other initiatives that support Maine's employment brand. By raising awareness of Maine as a career destination, we aim to showcase resources that help connect talented individuals with top employers across the state. 

We’re looking for a Marketing & Communications Intern to help us engage job seekers, employers, and community partners. If you love storytelling, social media marketing, and traveling around Maine to capture its magic, this role is for you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Marketing & Content Creation:
    • Develop engaging content for social media, email campaigns, graphics, and flyers that promote Maine’s job opportunities and lifestyle.
    • Travel across the state to capture photos, videos, and stories that highlight local employers and the Maine experience.
    • Assist in the execution of marketing campaigns and other creative marketing initiatives.
  • Job Board Promotion & Employer Outreach:
  • Assist in upselling our job board, helping Maine employers maximize their recruitment efforts.
  • Identify and nurture strategic partnerships with businesses, chambers of commerce, and economic development groups.
  • Engage with employers to showcase the benefits of using Live and Work in Maine as a recruitment tool.
  • Event Support & Community Engagement:
    • Help organize and support events that help to build community.
    • Represent Live and Work in Maine at job fairs, networking events, and community gatherings.
    • Assist in managing relationships with organizations that align with our mission.

 Merchandise:

  • Organizing and tracking inventory (t-shirts, keychains, stickers—you name it)
  • Helping place reorders when stock gets low
  • Prepping and shipping merch for giveaways, events, and partner organization.
  • Coordinating distribution across the state (think: job fairs, tourism spots, career centers, etc.)
  • Data & Reporting:
    • Track and analyze marketing performance metrics (social media engagement, job board activity, campaign success). 
    • Compile reports to help inform future marketing and recruitment

 

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who’s equal parts creative and curious, organized and outgoing. Ideally, you’re a:

  • College student or recent grad studying marketing, communications, business, or a related field
  • Strong writer and storyteller who can craft content that informs, inspires, or just makes someone smile
  • Social-savvy content creator with experience in video and visual storytelling across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Facebook
  • Self-starter who’s organized, proactive, and motivated by results—you don’t wait to be told what to do
  • Someone who’s comfortable hitting the road to travel around Maine, meet partners, and capture authentic, on-the-ground content
  • Someone with an analytical side, too—you’re not afraid of spreadsheets, dashboards, or digging into metrics to see what’s working
