Assistant Production Designer

Job Title: Assistant Production Designer

Reports To: Design Department Manager

Job Overview:

This is a full-time permanent role (salary and benefits) with our client, a Northern Kentucky-based production company specializing in live event production for conferences, meetings, and conventions. As a family-oriented and customer-focused company, out client is dedicated to delivering high-quality event experiences by combining cutting-edge technology with creative design. The work spans corporate events, trade shows, and large-scale productions, ensuring seamless execution from concept to completion.

We are looking for a versatile and talented Assistant Production Designer with a fundamental knowledge of live meetings and events. This is an entry level role combining creative scenic and graphic design skills with technical capabilities to produce high-quality event designs and graphics for live events.

Responsibilities:

3D Modeling and CAD:

  • Assist to build and render 3D event spaces based on CAD drawings and venue specifications.
  • Use CAD software to create and modify technical drawings for event layouts.
  • Assist in using modeling software to create 3D event design mock-ups for client sales.

Design and Graphics Creation:

  • Create/Augment preliminary graphics for use in 3D mock-up design renders.
  • Assist in the design, creation, and printing of graphic elements for event signage, stage sets, and branded materials.
  • Create and maintain templates for graphics and presentations used during live events.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, design tools, and emerging live production technologies.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Stage and Set Design, Lighting, and Production teams to integrate visual graphics seamlessly into live events.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality visual solutions.
  • Collaborate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for live events.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual
    Communication, or a related field is preferred).
  • Experience with stage design, preferably in live events or audiovisual production.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
  • Experience with 3D modeling/rendering software (VectorWorks, Capture, Sketchup, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity in AutoCAD for creating and modifying event layouts.
  • Knowledge of video editing and motion graphics is a plus.

General Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new design tools and technologies.
  • Understanding of lighting consoles and live event production equipment is a plus.
