About the Role

If you are majoring in Ornamental Horticulture or a related field, have a passion for plants, and love to learn, then we would love for you to join us.  As a Monrovia Plant Trial Intern, you will learn from our experienced Craftsmen in this 9-week hands-on program held in the trial areas at our Visalia, California nursery beginning in April and ending in June with the potential of future full-time employment.

What You’ll Do

You'll…

• work in all areas of the nursery so that you can gain an understanding of what it takes to Grow Beautifully.  The work will include spending time in propagation, canning, pruning, assembling of orders, shipping and sales.
• spend the majority of the season working in the trial areas planting, growing, observing. photographing and reporting on new trial plants.
• learn from our experienced craftsmen.
• support our company values in the way you communicate with your fellow craftsmen.
• work with 300+ new varieties each year.

Who You Are

You…

• are pursuing a degree in Ornamental Horticulture or a related field or have experience, or knowledge of the horticulture industry and want to learn more.
• are excited to learn.
• are open to feedback and communicate well verbally and in writing.
• are able to work Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and ½ day on Saturdays.
• are able to maneuver around the office and nursery, can lift up to 35 pounds, and can perform repetitive moments like squatting, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• are interested in career opportunities with Monrovia after your internship is completed.

• As an Intern, you’ll be paid $17.00 per hour.
