Hiring Range: $18 - $20 hourly
This position has a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week, subject to change.
Interns assist with various special projects and other tasks at the direction of the appropriate department leadership. Performs support to County departments in a variety of duties related to departmental operations, such as conducting research and developing correspondence or documents.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides support to help ensure effective and efficient departmental operations. Assists with various projects and special projects based upon departmental initiatives and strategic goals.
- Researches, analyzes, and presents findings related to assigned projects or duties. Compiles, drafts, and communicates information to department staff as assigned.
- Creates reports, job aids, summaries, presentations, and other documents that support and enhance departmental operations.
- Assists with data entry and maintenance of various departmental programs, systems, and databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with appropriate regulations, policies, and standards.
- Reviews departmental documents, reports, or information, ensuring accuracy prior to the processing of pertinent information.
- Performs various administrative duties in support of the appropriate department, including filing and scanning’ performs quality assurance as needed.
- Contributes to team effort by helping to achieve departmental goals.
- May represent the organization in meetings or in person.
- May provide customer service and reception duties.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Exercised: This classification does not have supervisory authority and requires no supervision or direction of others.
Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision. This classification normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions on methods, procedures, and desired results with little room for deviation. Frequent direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor is expected.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with databases and computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Must be detail-oriented and ensure accuracy in work. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be honest, truthful, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
- Analytical, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Required Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Active participation in an education program pursuing a related degree.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Coursework in business administration, human resources, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft programs (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Must pass conditional post-offer background investigation and drug screen.
Work Conditions
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. This is a temporary position typically not to exceed five months.
