Seneca Foods is seeking 2-3 interns in snap beans for the 2025 season, covering the Hancock, WI and Ripon, WI growing areas and reporting to either the Ripon, WI ag shop or the Hancock, WI field office.

 

The Field Representative Intern reports to the supervising Field Representative to assist in seed distribution, keep accurate records on seed inventory and scouting notes, perform crop scouting, take harvest samples, and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the field representative.  This position covers snap bean acres planted in the Ripon, WI area and the Hancock, WI area.  The time frame for this internship is May 2025 - September/October 2025, depending on school schedules.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Distribute and handle seed, utilizing pickup trucks and forklifts
  • Keep accurate records of seed inventory
  • Keep accurate records of crop scouting notes
  • Assist in planting population checks as each field is planted
  • Crop scout fields in the Ripon, WI and Hancock, WI growing areas for weeds, disease, and pests
  • Take samples of fields near harvest to measure maturity
  • Keep accurate sample records
  • Assist in harvest equipment operation as needed or if interested
  • Develop a working relationship with growers and coworkers
  • Meet with growers to have pertinent documents signed prior to harvest
  • Operate with a safety focused mind-set and follow good management practices
  • Assist in other duties as assigned by the field representative

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an Agriculture based 2 or 4 year program at an accredited school
  • Interest in Agriculture
  • Ability to learn
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Current driver's license with a clean driving record
