POSITION TITLE:   Communications Coordinator
REPORTS TO:          Director of Communications  
WORKSITE:              Omaha, NE  
  
ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION: In 2022, Immigrant Legal Center and Refugee Empowerment Center merged, and the combined nonprofit organization is now the Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement (CIRA).  CIRA’s mission is to empower immigrants and refugees to live confidently through high-quality legal representation, resettlement, and social work and to create welcoming communities through education and advocacy.  
  
POSITION DESCRIPTION: CIRA is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to join our team. This role will support our organization's storytelling efforts across multiple platforms while helping implement our internal and external communication initiatives. The core functions of this position include: (1) content creation and social media; (2) production of digital and print materials; and (3) communications project support. The ideal candidate for this position brings strong writing skills, basic design skills, and excellent organizational aptitude. They should enjoy collaborative work and be able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  
CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:   
  Content Creation & Brand Support

  • Develop engaging written content for social media, websites, email newsletters, and print materials
  • Assist in capturing and organizing photos and video content for storytelling purposes
  • Support consistent brand application across all communication channels
  • Help maintain the organization's digital asset library
  • Contribute to the development of impactful stories and client spotlights
  • Assist with preparing talking points and materials for interviews or presentations


Communication Production & Coordination

  • Design basic digital and print materials using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Support website updates and content management
  • Help coordinate with vendors for production of communication materials
  • Assist with tracking media coverage and organizing media contacts
  • Support event communications including promotional materials and post-event recaps
  • Help maintain inventory of printed materials and branded items


Project Support & Administrative Assistance

  • Help manage content calendars and coordinate project timelines
  • Assist with tracking communication metrics and preparing simple reports
  • Support the execution of communication campaigns across departments
  • Help develop internal communications to staff
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS   

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field is required
  • 1- 3 years of experience in content creation, marketing, or communications is required
  • Experience in creative writing including social media, press releases, internal communications and overall messaging and branding
  • Required proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software or similar design software
  • Expert with Office 365 (Excel, Word, SharePoint) and quick to learn new software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills
  • Familiarity with CRM database management is preferred
  • Video editing experience is strongly preferred
  • Event planning or coordination experience is preferred
  • Proficiency or fluency in additional languages other than English is preferred
  • Creative capabilities with a good eye for design
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and project management skills

WORKING CONDITIONS  

  • This job consists of regularly sitting at a desk and using a computer and phone.
  • Workdays pertain to a Monday – Friday schedule, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

 
COMPENSATION  

  • Hourly rate of pay starting at $23.50, commensurate with experience.
