Social Media Intern

Who we are:

Build a Brain, Build a Life, Build a Community® partners with birthing hospitals and collaborates with healthcare systems to transform lives through neuroscience education and community engagement. Our work focuses on early childhood development, beginning in the prenatal and postpartum periods, and integrates research with practical strategies. By partnering with hospitals and community organizations, we create a support system that equips families with the tools and resources to enhance their children's cognitive development while strengthening community ties. We are dedicated to making knowledge of brain development accessible to everyone in the healthcare ecosystem to foster better lives and stronger communities.


Position Type & Hours: 

This is a hybrid internship opportunity requiring 10-12 hours per week. Interns will work remotely with the expectation of one dedicated in-person day per week at our office for team collaboration and mentorship. The in-person requirement ensures meaningful integration with our team while maintaining the flexibility of remote work for other tasks.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail, as you'll be creating engaging social media content and editing various documents
  • Experience with social media content creation and management across major platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook)
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics and ability to track, measure, and report on key performance metrics
  • Familiarity with graphic design principles and ability to create visually appealing content for social media, marketing materials, and email campaigns
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with team members 
     

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and schedule engaging social media content that aligns with our mission and marketing strategy
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to optimize content performance and reach
  • Create basic graphic designs for social media posts, email campaigns, and other marketing materials
  • Help manage and organize digital assets across various platforms
  • Support email marketing campaigns through MailChimp
  • Generate regular reports on social media performance using Looker Studio
     

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in social media management platforms
  • Experience with Canva or similar design tools
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook
  • Basic understanding of WordPress  
  • Basic understanding of MailChimp email marketing platform
  • Experience with analytics tools, particularly Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio)
