About the role.
As a Maintenance Engineer Intern at our Grand Island plant, you will play a pivotal role in various capital and operational improvement projects. This role is part of a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the operations of our Grand Island plant. You will gain hands-on experience in project management and process improvement while working closely with experienced engineers and contractors.
Location: This position is based at our Grand Island plant in Grand Island, NE, and requires on-site presence five days a week, typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
This position involves supporting our capital project development and maintenance management, including working with the plant engineer to manage contractors, using root cause analysis to diagnose plant issues, and rolling out continuous improvement plans to address them. The intern will learn our machinery's current functions and steps for improvement, ensuring all details are meticulously documented. Additionally, the role includes transitioning written drawings to digital, performing intense downtime analysis, and contributing to the process safety management program.
This internship offers multiple opportunities for full-time employment post-graduation, such as Reliability Engineer and Production Management Trainee program, which is a leadership development program designed to create future leaders in McCain.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and manage capital projects.
- Work with plant mechanics and machines to reduce downtime
- Develop action plans resulting from downtime analysis
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure project completion.
- Manage contractors on-site, ensuring all project elements are identified and documented.
- Transition paper-based drawings into digital CAD drawings
- Contribute to the process safety management program.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering.
- Strong understanding of project management principles.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with contractors and team members.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Familiarity with online management portals is a plus.
- CAD experience is a plus

Compensation Package: $23.00 - $26.00 USD hourly
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
