Child Care Assistant

Child care assistant. 

Engage with and help redirect as necessary, children who are waiting for their parents at a nonprofit/counseling center. Child care assistant will play games, color and draw, or read books to youth in a waiting room area until their parents return. child care assistant may need to remind youth of the rules, or redirect them from going into areas/getting into area not for children (such as office supplies). Deescalation from strong feelings or arguments between siblings may be required. Some light cleaning up of the area, putting books or toys away, disinfecting, taking out trash, etc may be needed as well. 

All clients attending our nonprofit have trauma histories and are adopted, fostered, or in kinship care. Personal experience in one of these is a plus, but not required. Previous experience with children required, and previous experience with youth having trauma histories preferred. Being interested and self motivated to continue to learn how to work better with this population is a plus. 

General times needed is 2-6pm on 1-2 days per week- a Tuesday, Wed or Thursday. Contracts can be extended for a second year for those who are a good fit. 

Looking to hire 1-2 people, depending on availability

Background checks plus 2 non family references are required.
