Rate: $15-$17 per hour
Company Overview:
Walk with a Doc (WWAD) inspires communities through movement and conversation with free walking programs led by volunteer physicians. Started in Columbus, Ohio in 2005 by cardiologist David Sabgir, the program now extends to over 500 communities in 49 states and 39 countries. With the aim to make hope and health accessible to all, the program focuses on four pillars of health: physical activity, social connection, health education, and time in nature.
Position Overview:
The Program Intern (PI) will help manage and expand the Walk with a Doc program in Franklin County, Ohio. This role involves overseeing event coordination, marketing and outreach, volunteer management, and fundraising. The PI will also collect participant feedback, prepare reports, and build relationships with community partners. The PI will work directly with Walk with a Doc’s Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Assist in overseeing the Walk with a Doc program in Central Ohio, ensuring consistent scheduling and quality of events.
- Volunteer Coordination: Assist with recruitment of volunteer physicians and community members.
- Outreach & Marketing: Develop marketing strategies, engage with the community, and promote events via social media, local media, community partnerships, and speaking opportunities.
- Fundraising: Identify and cultivate sponsors, donors, fundraising events, and grant opportunities to support the program’s growth.
- Participant Engagement: Enhance the participant experience, collect feedback, and implement improvements.
- Data & Reporting: Track program metrics, assist with annual reports, and evaluate program impact.
- Event Support: Attend Walk with a Doc events (typically on Saturday mornings), assist with logistics such as sign-in sheets and distributing incentives, and ensure smooth operations.
- Community Partnerships: Conduct outreach to build relationships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and businesses.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma; preferably seeking or obtained a bachelor’s degree in public health, community engagement, nonprofit management, marketing, or related field or work experience.
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and volunteer coordination skills. Experience with marketing, outreach, and fundraising.
- Personal Attributes: Passion for health and wellness, self-motivated, and collaborative.
