Utah Tech Athletics - Marketing and Fan Engagement Internship
The Utah Tech Athletics Department is seeking responsible, organized, and dedicated students to be a part of the team that promotes, plans, coordinates, and executes sporting events and outreach programs for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. This program is responsible for executing over 100 home sporting events and outreach on campus and in the community. Applicants must be enrolled at Utah Tech University to be considered. All majors are welcome to apply; however, preference is given to Recreation and Sports Management, Marketing, and Communication majors.
Basic Qualifications for all positions: This internship program will last the entire 2025-26 academic year; based on performance, you may be asked if you would like to extend through summer 2026 and beyond. Orientation will be held before the beginning of the semester. Interns are expected to commit to the full term of the internship. Must be able to work at least 10 hours a week and be flexible with hours (including nights, weekends & holidays as assigned).
- Desire to learn about sports marketing
- Knowledge of multiple sports
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to effectively execute tasks given
- Remain calm under pressure in a variety of production situations
- Must have reliable transportation
DUTIES:
- Set up and break down promotional tables/events
- Set up, organize, and distribute giveaway items
- Support Utah Tech Athletics staff in pre-game/post-game events
- Assist with organizing and executing all in-game promotional activities
- Serve as a liaison with participating groups for in-game promotions
- Have great customer service skills and assistance with fans
- Perform additional tasks and game-specific duties as assigned
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Interns will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of sports marketing and game production, including:
- Understanding the operational side of game production
- Script writing, including the workings of ShoFlo
- How to read and interpret game timelines
- Coordination of on-field and on-court promotions and fan engagement
- Managing game-day music
- Video and LED Board operations, working with LaunchPad and ProPresenter
- Digital marketing tactics and platforms, including social media, email (Eloqua), and the Trailblazer Sports App
- Collaborating with other game production team members, including cheer, dance, and band
- Coordinating with sponsors and other stakeholders
- Marketing event coordination and operations
