Management Development Program

Job Description

Title: Management Development Program 
Reports To: Operations Manager
FLSA: Salaried
Full Time

Summary:
EMR USA is looking for a motivated individual to join our Management Development Program in Texas and Louisiana. The selected candidate will receive hands-on training in all aspects of the metal recycling industry and shadow experienced managers to gain valuable insight into leadership responsibilities. An outstanding candidate is a self-starter with a keen business sense, works well in a team setting, and possesses a strong work ethic.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Personnel Management:
o Assist a team of employees, including operators, technicians, and administrative staff
o Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure team cohesion and productivity
o Develop expertise in equipment maintenance procedures and logistical planning.

Safety Compliance:
• Promote a Safety-First Culture
o Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment
o Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing concerns promptly
o Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial environments

Equipment & Operations Management:
• Gain proficiency in equipment operation, maintenance, and upkeep
o Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
o Oversee truck loading/unloading and material movement through the operation
o Develop knowledge of shearing, baling, torching, and sorting processes

Logistical Coordination:
• Plan and coordinate the efficient movement of materials throughout the facility, including inbound and outbound shipments
• Optimize workflow processes to streamline operations and reduce turnaround times

Inventory & Asset Management:
• Learn and implement materials grading, inventory management, and asset tracking
• Ensure accurate tracking of materials throughout the processing cycle

Financial Management:
• Gain an understanding of P&L, operational costs, and forecasting
• Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement

Quality Control & Customer Service:
• Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of materials processing
• Ensure customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner
• Create a welcoming, customer-friendly environment for retail clients
• Develop conflict resolution and relationship management skills

Industry Knowledge & Professional Growth:
• Stay up to date with the metal recycling industry and market trends
• Engage in training and development, with occasional travel to other EMR sites in Texas and Louisiana

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience

Other Job Demands:
• Work both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to all weather conditions
• Be near moving mechanical parts and operate in a high-noise environment requiring ear protection
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods
• Light travel required for training and development at other EMR sites in Texas and Louisiana
