Communications/Marketing Intern

SEDA-Council of Governments, an economic development organization serving 11 Central Pennsylvania counties, is seeking a part-time Communications Intern. In this role, you will be given the ability to work with several diverse departments throughout the organization. We believe in making Pennsylvania a better place – and we are looking for an intern who shares that same drive and passion. 

Our organization houses nearly a dozen of various departments and fields from transportation services to business finance to community development (and much more). If you are looking to gain hands-on, real-life experience, our diverse organization is the place to gain that knowledge!

Position overview:

  • Work with communications & marketing coordinator to establish brand guidelines for organization.
  • Assist with/handle press releases for 10+ departments.
  • Work collaboratively with each department to enhance brand awareness.
  • Oversee, collaborate, and create social media pieces with departments throughout SEDA-COG.
  • Assist with the development and creation of an agency newsletter.
  • Measure the performance of social media accounts – help construct a plan to increase engagement on all social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X).
  • Assist with planning and coordinating internal and external events.
  • Assist with the creation of PowerPoint presentations.
  • Work with the communications/marketing coordinator on internal strategic communications in order to build engagement.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Applicants should be a Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Design major.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in Canva or other creative software.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once with attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills.
