R28547 Summer Internship: Data Insights Intern (Hybrid - San Carlos, CA)

Note: To be considered for our 2025 Summer Internship program you must be enrolled in a university degree program and cannot be graduating sooner than December 2025.

 

This is a hybrid role - our ideal candidate will report to our San Carlos, CA office at least two days a week. We are unable to offer relocation assistance.

 

Education Required: Student must be enrolled in an accredited Masters or PhD Program.

 

General Description/Scope of Responsibilities (Internship): The GOBA Data and Analytics Internship offers hands-on experience in data visualization, data quality checks, and reporting using SQL, Alteryx and Dataiku. Interns will support the creation of data analytics layers, implement data quality monitoring within pipelines, and collaborate with stakeholders to understand key metrics. A structured learning curriculum will provide exposure to pharma commercial data and its real-world applications.

 

Essential Functions of the Internship:

 

  • Data Validation & Quality Enhancement
    • Develop and refine data validation processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across global datasets (US & EU).
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to address data discrepancies and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Data Architecture & Workflow Optimization
    • Analyze and understand data structures, backend systems, and workflows to identify improvement opportunities across global teams.
  • Reporting & Visualization
    • Assist in refining visualizations to meet the evolving needs of global business stakeholders.
  • Process Automation
    • Assist in automating repetitive data tasks using tools like SQL, Alteryx, etc. to improve efficiency across global operations.
    • Identify bottlenecks in data workflows and propose automation solutions to streamline processes.
  • Documentation & Collaboration
    • Maintain business rule documentation of global data pipelines, reporting metrics, and DQM processes

 

Experience And Skills:  

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Alteryx, Dataiku, or similar data preparation and workflow tools
  • Solid understanding of SQL with hands-on experience using relational databases such as Redshift and/or PostgreSQL
  • 2–4 years of industry experience preferred; experience in pharma or biotech consulting is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in team environments
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative development processes
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline best practices

$38.50/hr (Masters)

Salary Range: $ - $ per hour

Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
