Cancer Support Team is a non-profit home care program in Purchase, New York, licensed by the NYS Department of Health.  We are unique in providing in-home nursing education and support, counseling, case management and resources to individuals and families affected by cancer who live in Westchester County. 

All our programs are free. To be able to do this, we rely on various fundraising projects. We are looking for an intern to work 10-14hours a week starting late-May through July.  Swim Across America is one of our major grantors, and they hold numerous events over the summer in which CST will participate. The intern is the main liaison between CST and Swim.

In addition, CST produces a guide for cancer patients and their caregivers entitled Life Lines.  This booklet needs to be updated and is an excellent research project for a smart, independent student. 

Hone your presentation skills; be responsible for organizing hundreds of swimmers and other volunteers; help CST with social media, blogging and other outreach efforts; work closely with the executive director and get an up-close view on how a small non-profit is run.  This will be particularly useful for students interested in non-profit administration, business, marketing, health care, and public policy.

The hours worked can be flexible.  The location is just off of route 287 easily accessible by car.

The intern will be paid a $1000 stipend. Excellent computer skills are a necessity.  Applicants should also be extremely organized, with great writing/ communication skills. See our website at www.cancersupportteam.org for further information about Cancer Support Team.
