Summer Operations Intern
KYA's Internship program is a learning process designed to promote professional growth. We accept students in the summer of their Freshman through Junior year for an optimum experience.
The main objective of this internship is to learn skills in Site Coordination and Operations. Skills include but are not limited to critical thinking, communication, time management, and more.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Observing and /or interacting with various professionals related to the KYA business, including owners, architects, subcontractors and vendors.
- Attending staff and departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate management or coordination meetings.
- Completing, updating and distributing project management communications of various types such as meeting minutes, daily reports, material and labor logs.
- Assisting with the overall project management responsibilities, including account management, billing, scheduling, estimating, budgeting and coordination of subcontractors and vendors.
- Assist in warranty and maintenance calls.
- Assist estimators on various aspects of the bid process.
- Learn how to gather all the necessary information for a project and compile a bid under the direction of the Chief Estimator with the opportunity to bid projects independently.
General Requirements:
- Computer proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a team.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Organized with strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interface with subcontractors, suppliers and designers while developing a bid as needed.
- Knowledge of estimating multiple building/project types
Education Requirements: Sophomore to junior student aspiring to earn a degree in Architecture or a related field.

The paid Intern Program requires a minimum 6-week commitment and incorporates an education element and teambuilding exercises.
