REPORTS TO: Executive Director

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

SALARY:  $35,000-45,000 DOQ

JOB SUMMARY:

The Marketing Assistant is responsible for assisting with the development and execution of marketing strategies that enhance the visitor experience and promote the Alamosa area. This role involves content creation, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure consistent messaging and brand integrity. The ideal candidate is creative and detail-oriented, and thrives in both independent and team settings.

  • Assist Visit Alamosa with planning, and execution of all marketing and promotional projects.
  • Assist Marketing Manager with needed marketing projects and content development including content creation such as photos, videos and written content. 
  • Assist with social media channel management, including content creation, engagement, and advertising.
  • Assist with tracking progress on campaigns and media placements.
  • Collaborate on brand strategy development and execution, including advertising campaigns and media planning.
  • Assist with content and visuals for websites, advertisements, social media, and other marketing materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in digital marketing, social media, and advertising including new social media channels and outlets for marketing.
  • Identify and implement innovative strategies to enhance Alamosa’s visibility and visitor experience.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:

  • An understanding of website, social media and digital marketing strategies.
  • Adobe Creative suites and/or Canva experience a plus.
  • Marketing strategies and tactics used today.
  • Understanding of platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and TikTok.

Skills:

  • Communication: Strong writing and verbal skills for emails, reports and social media
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in marketing materials and data analysis.
  • Time Management and Organization: Handling multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Creativity: Developing engaging content and campaign ideas.
  • Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams like Destination Development and Visitor Services.

Abilities:

  • Ability to be a self-starter and keep up with the latest marketing strategies, tools and industry trends.
  • Ability to collect data on campaign performance and generate reports, insight and recommendations. 
  • Ability to help organize events and promotional activities which may include working nights and weekends. 
  • Ability to engage with audiences both in-person and digitally in a professional manner. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field preferred
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the field of marketing and social media 
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Salary scale is based on a combination of documented experience and relevant certifications

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • Must pass Alamosa County background check and pre-employment drug testing

Hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges; close-up vision and the ability to adjust focus across an audience.  Occasionally, the position may stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, carry, twist and push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.  The employee is required to communicate both orally and in writing. Employee must be able to reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls, drive, and lift up to 30 pounds. The noise level may be very quiet to noisy depending on the situation.
