Position Summary

The Plant Superintendent serves as the interface between the asset owner (Origin Mine) or their agent, ProEnergy Services, and the plant O&M team to accomplish the safe operation of the asset while achieving reliability and availability goals.  The Plant Superintendent is fully accountable for financial planning and control, provision of resources, compliance with regulatory requirements, and various communication and reporting requirements within the contractual terms of the O&M Agreement. Additionally, the plant Superintendent will manage the daily operations of the plant, directs the implementation of the Operating Plan, identifies those areas which may need improvement or further development, and is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Build a strong team of motivated people to achieve business goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationship with contacts to include the owner, the public and co-workers.
  • Manages contract compliance requirements to include plant permits and related data collection and record keeping.
  • Manages compliance with federal, state and local regulations, laws and practices.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Reads, understands, and ensures compliance with all plant safety and regulatory procedures.
  • Initiates plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Establish work management practices and monitor KPIs to ensure the process achieves plant goals.
  • Establish budgets and control operating costs within budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinate site activities with commercial function to optimize financial performance and risk.
  • Collaborate with other PES plant Superintendents, Plant Managers, and company subject matter experts to coordinate activities and identify and spread best practices.
  • Provide and utilize various financial, production, process and performance reports.
  • Reviews purchase orders for parts, ensuring budgetary constraints are maintained.
  • Establish procedures to procure and protect spare parts
  • Contract services appropriate to achieve reliability and availability goals.
  • Implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of plant or work crew.
  • Reads, understand and assist staff with the use of technical manuals and system piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Prepares or reviews work orders for required preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Assists workers in proactively identifying failing equipment and diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet maintenance schedules.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality of service.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Develop schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Create and maintain monthly production and performance report for owner
  • Leads recruitment effort for Operations employment candidates and assures complete and proper professional safety training and orientation for the OMT members.
  • Takes the lead in investigating and resolving all forced outages and operating irregularities. Reviews and makes recommendations to improve equipment availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Develops and oversees training and qualification programs to maximize the effectiveness of the Operational staff. Provides overall coordination for Operational departments training and development including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Develops plans for the execution of planned outages. Ensures that work performed by plant personnel and contractors is planned and progresses as scheduled to meet performance and cost objectives.
  • Oversees a comprehensive maintenance program that includes preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs in accordance with PES, manufacturer and industry practice and as indicated by equipment and system performance, maintenance records and safety requirements.  Continually evaluates the maintenance program and adjusts conditions to optimize maintenance cost effectiveness, work quality, outage time and availability. Reviews maintenance actions taken on work order forms.
  • Reviews and improves operational & maintenance processes and ensures that personnel adhere to established procedures and practices. Develops action plans to align employee accountabilities and conduct with operational processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and six to eight years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical competence including understanding software, hardware, networks, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a logical and effective manner.
  • Experience with operations and maintenance of LM6000.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Additional Requirements/Expectations:

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of various MS Office Suite programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.
  • Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Usual office working conditions: noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
