Akron Community Internship: Social Media Coordinator at WHNO
Position Title: Social Media Coordinator
Position Summary:
West Hill Neighborhood Organization (WHNO) is seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Coordinator to help us amplify our impact by managing our digital presence, engaging with the community, and promoting local businesses and events. If you're passionate about community development and social media, we’d love to have you on board!
Project Timeline: Summer 2025 | 100 hours | 5 hrs/week | Off-campus
(exact dates TBD to accommodate student schedules)
Responsibilities:
- Reports to the West Hill Neighborhood Organization (WHNO) board.
- Managing WHNO social media accounts (Facebook ,Instagram and Nextdoor)
- Creating and posting weekly content
- Taking photos and videos of people and places in the neighborhood
- Promoting local organizations and businesses through sharing and reposting their content
- Engaging with comments and direct messages in a professional and positive manner
- Creating/managing Facebook event pages for upcoming WHNO events
- Creating monthly newsletter using Mailchimp
- Submitting a social media and newsletter update report to the WHNO board every month
Additional Opportunities (if time permits):
- Assist with fundraising efforts, including reaching out to businesses for sponsorships and ads.
- Support event planning and coordination with the volunteer event committee.
Flexible schedule with options for in-person and virtual meetings.
Requirements:
- 1-2 years experience using and planning social media, particularly Facebook and Instagram, and/or writing newsletters or email campaigns.
- Must have an interest in the West Hill neighborhood and/or neighborhood development in general.
