Job Opportunity – Adjunct Math Instructor with The Modern College of Design in Dayton, Ohio

This is a Part-Time position where you will teach twice a week for a 1.5-hour class. In addition to classroom time, you will have designated office hours for student support, grading, and lesson planning for an average of 5-9 hours a week. The session will start in May 2025.
We are seeking an Adjunct Math Instructor to provide the expertise and knowledge that supports the college curriculum. The instructor will develop courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies, and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role of the instructor encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development, and institutional service.
The instructor will report directly to the school’s Chief Academic Officer and will be responsible for the following:
- Improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
- Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives, and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
- Teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and support activities that encourage student success.
- Assist admissions department by greeting prospective students and families and participating in admissions events.
- Establish annual objectives for professional growth in consultation with the Chief Academic Officer.
- Learn and apply technologies that support student learning and keep pace with developments in the discipline.
Requirements for this position include:
- Master’s degree in mathematics, or a related field.
- Maintain at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in Mathematics.
- High integrity and ethics.
- Must have experience with teaching and course development.
- Must have daytime availability and willingness to work flexible hours.
- Experience and familiarity with the art & design industry is a plus.
