Who we are:

Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska is one of the largest, PRIVATELY-OWNED veterinary hospitals in the Pacific Northwest. Tier 1 VMC is proud to provide access to our Gold Standard Medicine to over 700,000 people and their small animals/exotics/pocket pets, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!  As a Fear-Free animal hospital, we want to ensure our patients have access to complete care under one roof. Our veterinary hospital is a 24,000 square-foot facility that offers multiple modalities and emergency care. Our leadership team, as a privately-owned hospital, allocates funds every year to reinvest in technology, medical equipment and our team! We don’t just claim to be “state of the art” - we are! Expansive OR with innovative technology, heated surgical tables, premium lighting with video recording, in-house CT, in-house Ultrasound, in-house lab…and the list goes on! Our ICU provides for immediate patient recovery post-surgery with around-the-clock care. Our facility includes designated surgical-operating rooms for Orthopedics, Specialists, General and Endodontics. Tier 1 VMC is the only hospital in the state of Alaska with a full-time Oncology Department. Our Emergency Hospital, located within the General Practice wing, means a constant source of referrals for our Specialists. As one of the only Veterinary Specialty Surgical departments within the state of Alaska, we actively support our referral network of veterinarians.  We also offer a dedicated marketing and public relations team to build your professional reputation and combat negative press.  We have cultivated an environment of driven, passionate individuals looking to become excellent in their careers and we want YOU to join our team!!

What we offer you:

While we are extremely proud of all that makes our facility top-of-the-line, we are even more proud to say that providing our team with a guaranteed healthy work-life balance is one of our top priorities. Our Emergency Veterinarians work an average of 13-15 shifts per month, allowing ample time to enjoy being a true-Alaskan. Our leadership team invests in relief DVMs so our Full-Time DVMs can take their PTO.  We actively work to maintain a high technician to doctor ratio so our Veterinarians have the support that they need.

At Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center, we are a teaching hospital. With our dedicated mentorship programs aimed towards your professional and personal interests, we will provide you with the training, tools and resources you need to practice veterinary medicine at your highest level. We love to educate, learn and ensure people can advance in their careers!

The family-friendly culture within our practice is second to none! Other places talk about company culture, we live it!  As a team, we come together to gauge the wellness of our team and adjust company-wide benefits based on the needs of our team. For example, this could be catered lunches during our busiest season, snowmachining trips to get out and enjoy the outdoors, float trips to fish local streams, self-defense classes, private movie screenings, or sometimes just one of our DVM's using the kitchen to make a glorious Thanksgiving meal for everyone on shift. We want to make certain your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed!
