Salesforce Marketing Cloud Content Creator

The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Salesforce Marketing Cloud Content Creator. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategy & Innovation, the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Content Creator is responsible for creating, editing, and deploying email communications that drive alumni, donor, and stakeholder engagement across the University of Tennessee System and its campuses. 

This role will ensure a seamless, consistent, and brand-compliant user experience for email communications, journeys, and automations built in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Email Design and Deployment: Build, edit, and deploy email campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ensuring alignment with UTFI and campus branding and messaging standards. Design and maintain email templates in Content Builder, focusing on mobile responsiveness, accessibility, 

and user experience. Develop and test automation workflows, including complex journeys, transactional emails, and triggered communications. Serve as a resource for troubleshooting email issues, including rendering, audience segmentation, and personalization. 

Quality Assurance (QA) and Process Management: Assist with comprehensive QA testing for email campaigns to ensure functionality, formatting, and accuracy before deployment. Help develop and maintain a robust QA checklist and documentation to streamline processes and prevent errors. Collaborate with team members to ensure data extensions, segmentation, and personalization rules are correctly implemented in campaigns. 

Performance Analysis and Reporting: Monitor email performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversions, etc.) and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Develop a rubric of A/B testing ideas and a method to track results. Conduct A/B testing to optimize subject lines, calls-to-action, content layout, and other campaign elements. Generate regular reports to evaluate campaign success and recommend strategies for improvement. 

Compliance, Collaboration, and Innovation: Ensure all email communications meet industry best practices for accessibility (e.g., WCAG compliance) and are in compliance with email marketing regulations such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR. Serve as a subject matter expert on Salesforce Marketing Cloud, providing guidance and recommendations on platform capabilities.  

 

Required Education and Experience 

The candidate who fills the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Content Creator position is required to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 2+ years of experience in email marketing and campaign management, with a focus on platform-specific execution 
  • Proficiency in Salesforce Marketing Cloud 
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS for email design 
  • Experience with QA processes and troubleshooting in email marketing 
  • Project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and manage priorities 
  • Knowledge of email accessibility and compliance best practices 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially when working with cross-functional teams 
  • Proficiency in analyzing campaign metrics and making data driven recommendations 

 

Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 1 year of experience. 

 

Preferred Education and Experience 

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have: 

  • Master’s degree 
  • 3+ years of experience in email marketing, especially in higher education or nonprofit organizations  
  • Certification in Salesforce Marketing Cloud or related email marketing platform 
  • Advanced knowledge of email marketing platforms, specifically Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Content Builder, Journey Builder, Email Studio) 
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills, with keen eye for detail and brand consistency 
  • Experience optimizing email automation workflows and journeys for improved engagement 
  • Demonstrated success with HTML/CSS for email design 
  • Demonstrated success in improving email marketing performance through A/B testing and strategic reporting
