Employment Type: Full-Time - 211 Day Contract
Salary: Based on the Certified Salary Schedule

Job Summary:
School counselors play a vital role in fostering student success by promoting access and equity for all students. As key members of the school leadership team, school counselors help create a school culture that supports academic achievement and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and counsel students on academic, social, and emotional matters.
- Provide individual student planning and responsive services to support students and families.
- Teach guidance classes and facilitate small group or classroom counseling sessions.
- Consult and communicate with parents, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies regarding student needs.
- Assist students with academic planning, modifications, and accommodations.
- Participate in the Student Success Team to identify students requiring additional support.
- Guide students in understanding school policies, graduation requirements, and college admissions processes.
- Provide brief counseling for social and emotional concerns and refer students to behavioral health specialists when necessary.
- Analyze data to address gaps in student achievement and access to resources.
- Meet with students at risk academically, helping them develop plans for success.
- Plan and promote programs such as Curriculum Fairs, Career Fairs, Honors Assemblies, and Graduation Ceremonies.
- Support students with discipline, attendance, and academic challenges.
- Assist students in developing post-secondary education and career plans.
- Aid students with college admissions applications, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities.
- Coordinate Section 504 Plans and participate in Special Education meetings.
- Provide crisis intervention support for students dealing with personal loss or illness.
- Serve as a resource for teachers, helping them better understand and support students with unique needs.
- Actively engage in professional development and contribute to continuous program improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Passion for working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of student assessment tools, including standardized testing interpretation.
- Familiarity with educational software and technology applications.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling.
- Eligibility for a Utah School Counselor License (or ability to obtain by July 1 of the school year).
- Minimum of one year of school counseling or teaching experience.
