Benedictine High School is seeking a qualified candidate to join its faculty as an Intervention Specialist for the 2025-26 school year. We are looking for a candidate who will support Benedictine’s mission of shaping a diverse group of young men into leaders. Intervention Specialist Position
The Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have access to a high-quality, college-preparatory education. The specialist collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement individualized learning plans (IEPs, 504 plans, and academic interventions) while fostering a culture of high expectations and personal growth for all students.
Intervention Specialists at Benedictine are committed to student achievement through individualized instruction, data-driven strategies, and a strong partnership with faculty and support staff. They create a supportive and structured learning environment that encourages students to meet their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and intervention strategies to support students with learning differences.
- Provide direct instruction in small group or one-on-one settings to help students meet their academic goals.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt and modify curriculum, instruction, and assessments to meet the needs of students with accommodations and modifications.
- Monitor and track student progress through data collection, assessments, and regular communication with teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Advocate for students by ensuring compliance with state and federal special education laws and guidelines.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that aligns with the mission and values of Benedictine High School.
- Provide behavioral and academic interventions in coordination with the Counseling Department, administration, and faculty.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in intervention and special education.
- Serve as a resource for faculty in developing instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and faculty collaboration efforts to support the Benedictine community.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Holds a valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License or is pursuing a Resident Educator License in Special Education.
- Has experience working with students who require academic and/or behavioral intervention.
- Would love Benedictine and love our students while embracing the challenge of the work we do.
- Open to feedback and growth.
- Believes that we are better together and collaborates with teachers and administrative staff to solve problems, as well as working with families to engage them as partners in their son’s education.
- Has a strong personal and practical faith.
- Has demonstrated the ability to use differentiated instruction and intervention strategies to support student progress.
- Is proficient with technology to support student learning and data tracking.
