Social Media Coordinator
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is a leading national and international non-profit organization fighting to end sexual exploitation in all its forms.
Position Overview:
The Social Media Coordinator assists the Director of Communications as a part of the Communications Team at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. The perfect candidate for this role is a proactive, creative, adaptable, and digitally-savvy communicator who is an expert at managing all aspects of our social media channels, who excels in a high-volume work environment, and who is passionate about the movement to end sexual exploitation. The characteristics that the ideal candidate would possess: creativity, reliability, consistency, and a proactive & collaborative spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Curation: Develop and produce high-quality, engaging content that reflects NCOSE’s mission values, brand voice, and tone. This includes social media posts, newsletters, and multimedia materials.
Community Engagement and Management: Foster and maintain an active online community by engaging with followers, responding to and monitoring comments and messages, and facilitating meaningful conversations. Cultivate relationships with influencers, allies and partner organizations to build a loyal and active support base.
Strategic Campaign Development: Plan, execute, and analyze strategic communication campaigns that amplify NCOSE’s impact and authority. Utilize data-driven insights to optimize campaign performance and achieve organizational goals. Manage and utilize ad budget to strategically run ads and boost posts in collaboration with leadership, helping to refine the best audiences and report on success metrics.
Brand Advocacy and Positioning: Promote NCOSE’s leadership in the anti-sexual exploitation movement by showcasing success stories, thought leadership, and innovative initiatives. Position NCOSE as a trusted authoritative and inspiring voice on relevant issues. This includes, but is not limited to, elevating the work of other NCOSE team members. The ideal candidate will see these things during internal meetings and communications channels and take the initiative to promote them when appropriate.
Collaborative Partnerships and Networking: Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and industry influencers to align communication efforts and expand NCOSE’s reach. Leverage partnerships to enhance visibility and drive collective action against sexual exploitation and abuse.
Engagement: Manage the organization’s audience engagement, including but not limited to comment moderation and direct message response, on social media channels, with a focus on user journeys.
Event Support: Provide full support for all in-person and digital events. This includes, but is not limited to, audio/video set up, live-streaming, and recruiting or delegating roles to other staff members who are available to help. This role will work in close coordination with other Comms team members and other departments to ensure that expectations and goals are clear.
Grassroots Fundraising: Support grassroots fundraising on social media, including assistance with placing digital ads as capacity allows
Additional Duties
- Coordinate with PR on key media contacts that may have a social media presence to help warm the relationship for future collaboration
- Alert Comms and other departments on announcements, trends, or specific activity on social media that needs attention
- Remain current on the latest news and trends in social media/content/marketing tactics and on research related to sexual exploitation
- Regularly review, research, write, create, design, and appear in myriad multimedia content pieces for the organization’s website, blog, emails, and social media channels
- Assist in advancement/development-related activities as assigned
- Support ways to help convert supporters into donors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The successful candidate will fully align with NCOSE's mission to build a world where all people can live and love free from sexual abuse and exploitation. In addition they will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or relevant field. Also,
- Two to three years of Communications/Marketing experience is preferred
- Strong experience managing social media platforms at an organizational level
- Strong experience with social media content planning, development, and creation
- Experience with paid advertising and post boosting
- Self-Motivation: A goal-driven self-starter focused on achieving communication targets and initiatives.
Preferred Skills
- The ideal candidate for this role would have some audio/video skills to provide support in the office for meetings and events as well as for on-location events that require AV setup and support
- This best candidate for this role will be someone who is able to be proactive in planning ahead AND in pivoting quickly when priorities change unexpectedly
- Use of A.I. and automated tools to help with content ideation and scheduling
- Skilled communicator who is comfortable on webinars, video calls, or interview settings
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
- Onsite office environment
- Walking – downtown DC area
- Frequent sitting and digital screen use
Compensation:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualifications. Range of $45K-$53K annually.
