Engineering/Operations Fabricator

The Engineering/Operations Fabricator position supports PowerPollen® engineering and operations teams and helps with the design, fabrication, testing, and maintenance of new technology. This position supports the development and advancement of PowerPollen® process and technology.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Complete fabrication and welding assignments by following and interpreting blueprints to support engineering projects.
  • Prioritize engineering requests and ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time, meeting quality standards, and following safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication issues, propose practical solutions, implement necessary adjustments and address any delays promptly.
  • Procure and manage the equipment, tools, supplies, and parts necessary for safe and efficient shop operations.
  • Collaborate with PowerPollen R&D and engineering team to identify and develop process improvements to existing PowerPollen technologies.
  • Collaborate with Operations on running and maintaining PowerPollen equipment and technology.
  • Participate in field testing of newly developed equipment.
  • Conduct seasonal prep work including preventative maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
  • Provide back up for in-season maintenance and heat of the season fixes to equipment.
  • Become capable of identifying equipment failure points and adjusting/repairing minor aspects in the field to enable ongoing operations.
  • Complete grounds and facility maintenance as needed.
  • Verify that all shop and field fabrication and maintenance activities comply with company procedures, safety guidelines, and industry regulations.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, production, and project management leaders to ensure alignment on projects and priorities.
  • Present PowerPollen and self in a professional, safe, and efficient minded manner in all interactions with co-workers, supervisors, contractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in engineering or operations management position within a similar industry preferred.
  • Industrial equipment maintenance experience including electrical, hydraulics, compressors, pneumatics, etc.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, and sketches.
  • Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to teach others technical skills, preventative maintenance responsibilities, and safe work practices.
  • Positive and driven, with a problem-solving attitude but willing to work in teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and genuine interest in working in a rapidly evolving and changing atmosphere including comfort working with assigned areas of responsibility as well as helping others in their areas of expertise as needed.
  • Highly organized and capable of seeing a barrier or issue as an opportunity to overcome a challenge in the delivery of excellent results.

Working conditions

This position works in varying conditions including office work, normal shop setting to typical in-season agricultural environment. This includes working in crop fields when weather conditions are extremely hot/humid, and insects are present and long periods of standing/walking may be required.

Travel: Available to travel approximately 30-40% of the time including domestic and international travel.

Physical requirements

This position involves working indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions. Physical activities include climbing, walking on uneven terrain, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and work that involves repetitive motion and lifting. Ability to tolerate heat and humidity-typical of local field conditions, with extended hours that will vary with crop development in different locales.
