Associate Director of Auxiliary Programs
General Summary: The Associate Director of Auxiliary Programs supports the Director of Auxiliary Programs with administration, management and supervision of summer programs and extended time care. This position is responsible for staff hiring and management, refining operational processes, and ensuring high-quality programming that aligns with the school’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain engaging, high-quality programs that meet USM’s needs and
interests while ensuring their safe and effective delivery.
- Strategically align extended time care, specialty programs, and summer programs with the school’s mission while incorporating long-term planning for growth and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, faculty, families, and administrators.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies to support students’ positive conduct and engagement.
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed to address discipline issues and provide updates on student behavior.
- Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Assist with registration/parent communication via phone and email as needed.
- Assist in budget planning and financial management for extended time care and specialty programs
- Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to identify and develop auxiliary revenue streams.
- Serve as Camp Director during summer season.
- Recruit, hire, train, manage, and evaluate a team of qualified, engaging, and customer focused employees (15+ extended time care staff and 60+ summer staff)
- Schedule, approve payroll, and develop contracts and billing for staff and vendors.
- Provide effective orientations, in-service training, and evaluation tools to achieve uniform performance standards and development.
- Assist with scheduling substitute instructors/helpers and provides classroom supervision when needed.
- Design and implement engaging summer, after-school, and school break programs that foster youth development, promoting creativity, skill-building, and personal growth.
- Maintain established specialty and summer programs while introducing new initiatives that appeal to students, families, and the broader community.
- Assist in the establishment of program routines and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Assist in providing an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for program participants.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of youth education program development and management, ideally within summer camp and after school programs.
- Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability and desire to develop in a leadership role.

- Current CPR/First Aid training or be willing to be certified.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Non-Profit Management, or related field
- Previous experience working in youth education programs or summer camp preferred
- 2-4 years’ related successful experience as an educator or administrator
- Successful experience working with students
- Previous experience working effectively with culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations
