GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The principal fulfills the mission of Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy Catholic School by serving as the spiritual, educational, and administrative leader of the school. The principal is charged with the implementation of the philosophy, mission, objectives, and overall management of the school. The principal is responsible for the professional effectiveness of the staff, the educational progress of the students, as well as the relationship within the entire school community under the leadership of the pastor.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
This position fulfills administrative duties associated with Catholic School Principal responsibilities, working closely with the Pastor, and Superintendent for Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Seattle to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all required functions of leadership.
The Principal:
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Supports and adheres to the teachings of the Catholic Church, Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures of the Archdiocese
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Develops a school climate reflecting Catholic identity and ensures that the religious instruction of students meets the guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese
- Promotes Catholic identity within the school through liturgical celebrations, faith development, integration of Gospel values, and the practice of Christian service
- Abides by Archdiocesan Policies as written in "Many Gifts One Spirit: Pastoral and Sacramental Policies for the Archdiocese of Seattle"
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, as well as school and parish personnel
- Ensures the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum through the use of a variety of pedagogical strategies
- Supervises instruction and evaluates the overall effectiveness of the academic program
- Oversees ongoing orientation and staff development of faculty and staff
- Maintains the accreditation of the school according to Seattle Archdiocese, Washington state standards, and WCEA
- Responsible for the annual school budget and supervision of all expenditures with oversight by Pastor and Parish Finance Council
- Oversees development goals and activities and seeks resources and support beyond the school community
- Works closely with the Pastor, Pastoral Council, and School Commission in developing goals for living out the mission of the school
- Hires, supervises, evaluates, and terminates faculty and staff according to Archdiocesan guidelines
- Fosters collaboration between parish(es), pastor(s), and the school
- Maintains current and accurate records according to Archdiocesan and school policies
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff.
The Principal contributes to the success of the school by meeting organizational competency expectations and core values (respect, integrity, stewardship, excellence, collaboration and kindness), continuously learning, and inspiring achievement in others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with a Parish community.
Fluent in Spanish, strongly preferred.
Demonstrates comfort and overal competency within a bi-lingual and multi-cultural environment.
Multiple years of experience in a Catholic Elementary school setting are preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Applicants need a Master’s degree in Administration or Master’s degree in an educational field, or related field or a valid, appropriate state certificate for a principal or a successful completion of an appropriate state certification examination.
- Administration experience in an elementary or middle school is preferred.

- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
- Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning, and behavior
- Knowledge of the content and the methods of religious education
- Knowledge of effective assessment methods
- Knowledge of fund development techniques and practices
- Knowledge of community contacts for fund development
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of digital technology
- Knowledge, and demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication, including editing the work of others
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting non-profit preferred
- Knowledge and skill in marketing
- Skill in communicating effectively in both written and verbal form
- Skill in critical thinking and planning
- Skill in managing conflicts effectively
- Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities
- Skill in using group process tools effectively
- Skill in preparing reports and presentation materials
- Skill in planning and meeting project timelines and deadlines
- Ability to conceptualizeAbility to work efficiently under pressure.
Salary Range $ 95,000.00 - $ 135,000.00 Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
