Engineering Geologist

The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Agriculture and Enforcement Division has an opening for an Engineering Geologist working in our Enforcement Unit.

The position will be in either of two North Coast Regional offices: Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) Main Office located at 5550 Skylane Boulevard, Suite A, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 in the Airport Business Park next to the Sonoma County Airport, the Sonoma Marin Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Train, and other public transportation or Eureka (Humboldt County) Northern Field Office located at 930 6th Street, Eureka, CA 95501 in Downtown Eureka.

Duties: The Engineering Geologist will fill a role in the Enforcement Unit within the Agriculture and Enforcement Division, enforcing the California Water Code and Clean Water Act to minimize pollution, nuisance, and impacts to water quality. The duties of this position include inspecting cannabis cultivation sites throughout the region; assessing threats and impacts to water quality and compliance with the Water Code, Clean Water Act, and other laws and regulations; evaluating impacts to waters of the state; issuing enforcement actions; collaborating with other staff and other agencies, including law enforcement; reviewing technical reports for adequacy to comply with laws, regulations, and enforceable requirements; providing professional assessments; developing and implementing strategies, priorities, procedures, templates, guidance and trainings to support enforcement; presenting and providing testimony at Board meetings, hearings and court proceedings.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

$6,299.00 - $11,859.00 per Month
