Middle and High School Mathematics Teacher
ANTICIPATED OPENING: Middle and High School Mathematics Teacher (Grades 7-12)

Position Summary:
Emerson Jr/Sr High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to teach students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills, while creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
We highly encourage alternate route candidates who bring real-world math experiences and a passion for teaching to apply. While special education certification is a plus, it is not required for this role.
This is a full-time, tenure-track position, offering the opportunity to work with a collaborative, student-centered faculty and make a meaningful impact on student learning and achievement.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned to NJ Student Learning Standards for middle and high school students.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, strengths, and interests of all students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, inquiry, and growth mindset.
- Use a variety of assessment methods (formative and summative) to monitor student learning and adjust instruction as needed.
- Incorporate real-world applications of mathematics to help students see the relevance of math in everyday life and future careers.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including special education teachers and support staff, to ensure student success.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and school staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and curriculum development initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field.
- Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification in Mathematics or eligibility for alternate route to certification — alternate route candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of best practices in math instruction and a commitment to helping all students succeed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to equitable and inclusive education that supports students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Special Education certification (Teacher of Students with Disabilities) is a plus but not required.
- Experience teaching mathematics at the middle school or high school level.
- Familiarity with technology tools to support math instruction (e.g., graphing calculators, online platforms).
- Experience implementing differentiated instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
