Teacher of the Deaf/Intervention Specialist
Position Announcement for the 2025-2026 School Year
St. Rita School for the Deaf is a Catholic school, educating students of all faiths in a Christ-centered, barrier-free communication environment through individualized instruction, personal attention, and direct communication.
POSITION TITLE: Classroom Teacher of the Deaf/Intervention Specialist
GRADE LEVEL: 7-12th grade
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: August 11, 2025 – May 22, 2026
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● To plan daily instruction and learning activities that incorporate IEP goals, Ohio Learning Standards and extended standards.
● Develop and implement individualized IEP goals, assess students, collect data, and report progress.
● Write ETR and IEP reports and participate in ETR and IEP meetings.
● Collaborate between teachers, service personnel (Speech, OT, PT) and outside agencies including school districts to help the student meet their goals.
● Communicate student progress with parents.
● Administer state assessments and other required school testing.
● Manage classroom discipline in accordance with the PAWS system.
● Create a positive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or Special
Education
● A licensed Intervention Specialist - Resident Educators accepted
● Able to communicate effectively in American Sign Language
● Has experience working with students who have behavioral needs
● Able to work effectively as part of a collaborative educational team
WAGE AND BENEFITS: Wage is dependent on educational background and years of experience. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, 15 paid sick/personal days per school year, 10 paid Federal Holidays per school year, and paid professional development.
WORK SCHEDULE: 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday; Full-time, Ten-month contract.
