POSITION SUMMARY

Performs animal laboratory procedures to collect plasma, immunize animals and process antisera at Nittobo America Inc.

Primary Duties

  • Sets up plasmapheresis machines and crates for plasma collection.
  • Determines catheter insertion location and inserts intravenous catheter.
  • Monitors plasmapheresis machines and animals during plasmapheresis procedure.
  • Performs clotting, refrigeration, clot cutting and squeezing techniques.
  • Measures volumes, adds preservatives and stabilizers, places in appropriate containers and stores according to directions.
  • Sets up for test bleed procedure by preparing test tube labels, syringes, and needles.
  • Takes test bleed samples per instructions according to proper animal care methods.
  • Prepares test bleed samples by centrifuging, filling vials, adding preservatives, labeling, and storing appropriately.
  • Works with Animal Care Techs to secure animal for various procedures.
  • Maintains detailed records for all procedures.

Position Requirements

  • Requires the physical agility and strength to handle animals and to move quickly around animals that weigh up to 400 pounds.
  • Requires sufficient hearing and vision to monitor the essential functions of animal immunization and plasma collection.
  • Requires the ability and skill to make accurate calculations, compare written information for conformance, maintain accurate detailed written and computer records, operate animal laboratory equipment and perform routine laboratory procedures.
  • Requires the ability to work with animals in the out-of-doors and in a frequently dusty animal environment.
  • Previous related experience is preferred.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on and on-going basis without sponsorship.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
