Job Description/Summary: Job Summary: The Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher plays a vital role in educating and empowering students in the areas of family life, personal finance, nutrition, and other essential Career Technical Skills. Primary responsibilities include creating a positive and engaging learning environment where students can develop practical skills and knowledge that will benefit them in their personal lives and future careers.

● Appropriate Licensure from the State of Ohio
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Curriculum Development: Design and develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that align with state and national FCS educational standards
● Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical career tech skills in subjects such as cooking, textiles, fashion and interior design, personal finances, parenting, child and human growth development and nutrition.
● Student Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and respectful communication among students.
● Individualized Learning: Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, providing additional support or enrichment as needed.
● Resource Management: Manage classroom resources, including supplies, equipment, and technology, while adhering to the budget constraints of the school.
● Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to measure student progress and provide
constructive feedback for improvement. including facilitating the state end of course Webxam test,
Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
● Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to discuss
student progress and involve them in the educational process. Collaborate with community
organizations and resources to enhance the learning experience.
● Professional Development: Stay current with developments in Family and Consumer Sciences
education through ongoing professional development opportunities.
● Serve as an Advisor for the Northeastern Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of
America, the Career Tech Student Organization for Family and Consumer Sciences.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
● Strong passion for teaching and a genuine interest in helping students develop career tech skills.
● Knowledge of current educational best practices, curriculum development, and instructional
strategies.
● Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and respectful learning
environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, parents, and
colleagues.
● Proficiency in using educational technology and software for instructional purposes.
● Organizational skills to manage classroom resources and maintain accurate records.
● Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying updated on trends in Family and
Consumer Sciences education.
