Intervention Specialist

TITLE: INTERVENTION SPECIALIST


QUALIFICATIONS:

 1. Shall hold a valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license for working with students with mild or moderate disabilities.
2. Will he highly qualified to teach the core content areas assigned.


REPORTS TO: Building Principal and the Coordinator of Special Education


JOB GOAL: To work with students, instructional staff members, and families to support the mastery of grade level content and to meet the individualized needs of students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Will consult with parents, regular education teachers and other support staff in
writing IEPs for new students and in conducting periodic and/or annual reviews of
each student’s progress
2. Will assess students and use data to plan and monitor appropriate educational interventions/activities that support the mastery of grade level academic content and other identified student needs
3. Will consult with classroom teachers to identify and implement teaching strategies and
accommodations that support students’ successful placement within the least restrictive environment
4. Provides special education services within the regular education classroom, when appropriate
5. Will use data to plan, progress monitor and evaluate student progress
6. Will establish and maintain an ongoing system of communication with parents and teachers to relay positive and progress-related information about students
7. Will observe and carry out Special Education procedures and expectations as defined by the Ohio Department of Education and the South-Western City School’s Special Education Department
8. Will perform appropriate record keeping activities such as lesson plans, progress monitoring and other requested and required documentation
9. Will contribute information for the reevaluation of students
10. Will attend meetings called by the Building Principal and/or designee and the Department of Special Education
