First Tech Fund / Graphic Design Intern | Company Ventures

Please note that through Blackstone LaunchPad’s partnership with Company Ventures, this role is ONLY open for students currently enrolled at City University of New York (CUNY) schools. Only CUNY students will be invited to interview and participate.

About First Tech Fund: 
First Tech Fund is dedicated to empowering low-income high school students to identify, navigate, and attain academic and professional opportunities by providing a supportive, adaptive ecosystem where students get access to free tech, free broadband, skills training, social capital, mentorship, and more. Through our program, our FTF Fellows will learn from industry leaders, young professionals, and business owners on what it takes to pursue a career in their field of interest while beginning to build their networks.

Job Purpose:
In 2020, First Tech Fund embarked on its journey to help provide NYC students with access to technology, mentorship opportunities, and support in unlocking opportunities in their respective interests. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. The tasks listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

The intern will support key areas of work supporting First Tech Fund’s progress toward discovering and unlocking opportunities for high school students from low-income and underserved communities.

Main Responsibilities:
Strategize and create social media assets as needed by the organization to inform our community about upcoming initiatives, student wins, and more
Support First Tech Fund on the planning and execution of key events for students, alumni, volunteers, and more
Draft newsletters to potential donors, alumni, and FTF supporters that are informative and engaging 
Optimize the performance of our social media posts through strong copywriting, engagement, and sharing 
Assist in the development and implementation of omnichannel digital marketing strategies 
Collect quantitative and qualitative data from social media and newsletter campaigns to better understand ways the organization can improve 
Development of locally relevant PR and media outreach strategy
Competitive landscape analysis for social media + ideation of fresh new ideas
Create visually compelling impact reports that communicate the outcomes and achievements of the organization, demonstrating transparency and accountability to donors
Collaborate on a communication plan to ensure that all marketing team members and volunteers are informed about their roles and responsibilities 
Regularly communicate updates, progress to projects and deliverables 

Experience And Qualifications:
Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively
In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, IG Stories, YouTube, and LinkedIn
Knowledge and strong command of Adobe Photoshop and interest in graphic design inclusive of but not limited to social media assets + PDF one-pagers would be preferred
Strong oral and written communications skills
Ability to juggle multiple projects (especially ones with time-sensitive deliverables!)
Dependable, punctual, and able to responsibly handle confidential information
Ability to work well with people with a wide range of backgrounds, interests, skills, concerns, and personalities, including respect for the perspectives of people from many cultures and life experiences
A strong commitment to racial equity and social justice
Skilled with Google Sheets, Google Docs, Excel, and Microsoft Word
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is preferred, but not required
