Food Safety & Quality Intern

Tasks

  • Collect samples and perform microbiological and analytical testing utilizing methods such as pH, moisture, and Petrifilm
  • Prepare microbiological media solutions
  • Assist in overseeing cleanliness and organization of the laboratory 
  • Assist in overseeing inventory of lab supplies 
  • Assist with monitoring finished product and material retain samples throughout product shelf life 
  • Assist with performing facility inspections 
  • Assist with organizing and filing FSQA and production documentation 
  • Support QA Department continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for proper documentation of all activities performed
  • Make recommendations on improving food safety and quality programs
  • Comfortable working proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Follows all company safety rules in performing job duties
  • The job holder might be assigned to other tasks and duties if necessary

 

Qualifications:

  • Current rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Food Science, or related field 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Knowledge of FDA food regulations, GMPs, Allergens, and Microbiology preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills 
  • Detail oriented
