Legal Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures, particularly in areas such as Law. This role is essential in supporting attorneys with various administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our law office, and maintaining effective document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including briefs, motions, and pleadings.
  • Manage case files and maintain organized documentation using document management systems.
  • Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
  • Draft correspondence and communicate with clients, courts, and other legal professionals.
  • Organize and schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates for attorneys.
  • Maintain accurate records of all legal documents filed and received.
  • Provide clerical support including filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.

Skills

  • Proficiency in document management systems; experience with legal research is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Creole language is preferred.
  • Excellent clerical skills with a focus on organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely for various legal documents and communications.
  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with law office environments and legal terminology.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
