Role Summary

The Lab Technician will work under the Lab Supervisor sampling and testing material. The Lab Technician will be expected to sample material, test material, record sample results, report sample results, maintain equipment, dispose of waste, and maintain a clean work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Lab Technician duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·        Sampling, labeling, and safely storing samples to be tested.

·        Determining and performing tests needed for analysis.

·        Testing samples and recording the results.

·        Reporting the test results.

·        Discussing any questions regarding the results.

·        Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample.

·        Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment.

·        Acquiring and maintaining certification for various state DOT testing.

Must-Have Skills

·        Attention to detail.

·        Good organizational skills.

·        Good communication and teamwork skills.

·        Understanding of computerized and electronic lab equipment.

·        Able to follow instructions and procedures.

·        Able to follow protocols for safely handling hazardous materials.

Education

A 4-year Bachelor’s Degree preferably related to Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science.

Compensation

Pay will be commensurate with experience.

Work Hours

Monday – Friday

Busy season: 7:00am – 5:00pm ET

Off season: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm ET

Dress Code

·        Long sleeve shirt – made of all organic material (cotton), no polyester allowed.

·        Long work pants – made of all organic material (cotton), no polyester allowed.

·        Steel toe or safety toe leather boots.
