Internship Overview: AI/ML and Application Development
At Verantos, interns gain real-world experience in AI-driven healthcare technology, working
on impactful projects that contribute to cutting-edge research, clinical studies, and advanced
data analytics. Our internship provides hands-on development experience with opportunities
to build machine learning models, develop real-time data applications, and collaborate with
engineering and research teams.
As a fully remote intern, you will work independently and collaboratively, gaining mentorship
from experienced engineers, AI specialists, and industry leaders.
What You’ll Do

Develop AI/ML solutions: Work alongside bioinformaticists, epidemiologists, and
veteran AI/ML engineers to design, develop, and refine machine learning models that
enhance data analytics and clinical study outcomes.

Build innovative applications: Own feature projects and applets that support our RWE
platform, ensuring seamless integration of claims, death registry, and EHR system
data into interactive, research-focused applications.

Enhance data analytics: Explore large-scale patient datasets to uncover trends and
insights that drive personalized care and improve real-world study accuracy.
●
Contribute to AI-driven research tools: Help prototype AI models that enable
automated data extraction, patient cohort identification, and predictive analytics.
●
Collaborate across teams: Engage with research, development, and regulatory teams
to help shape the future of evidence-based healthcare. Participate in team stand-ups,
code reviews, and AI strategy discussions.

Who Should Apply?
This internship is designed for students and recent graduates with a strong background in
software development, AI/ML, or data science. Ideal candidates will have:

Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science,
AI/ML, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
●
Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Pandas, NumPy) or JavaScript (React, TypeScript).
●
Understanding of machine learning fundamentals (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn)
and familiarity with AI concepts like NLP, transformers, and predictive modeling.
●
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote
environment.
●
Interest in healthcare technology and real-world data.

Compensation: $5600 monthly stipend
