Cytotechnologist
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our team. As a Cytotechnologist, you will be responsible for examining cell samples under a microscope to identify abnormalities or diseases such as cancer, infections, or genetic conditions. Your work will play a crucial role in providing accurate diagnostic information that assists in patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine and interpret cell samples (from bodily fluids, tissues, or other sources) to identify cellular abnormalities and diseases.
- Prepare and stain slides for examination, ensuring proper technique and accuracy.
- Use microscopes and other laboratory equipment to analyze samples and prepare reports.
- Document and maintain patient records accurately and in accordance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with pathologists to discuss findings, clarify diagnoses, and provide recommendations for further testing or treatment.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory protocols, quality control, and safety standards.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with the latest techniques and technologies in cytology.
- Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and protocols to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related field from an accredited program.
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other relevant certification.
- Strong knowledge of cytological techniques, laboratory practices, and diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and regulations.
